Alex Tričković

CTO @ Deadline Funnel·Belgrade, Serbia

I build software that holds up in production.

I’m Alex, a hands-on CTO. I’ve spent 14 years building SaaS products, leading engineering teams, and turning product ideas into software customers rely on. These days a lot of that is AI agents, and I build them for real products, not demos.

01 Now

What I’m working on these days.

  1. Running engineering at Deadline Funnel

I own architecture, infrastructure and product engineering across the full stack for a marketing automation SaaS.

  2. Building AI agents

Mostly with the Vercel AI SDK: tool calling and agent workflows, in production and on side projects. I’m currently going deep on evals, observability and RAG.

  3. Engineering with AI in the loop

I work with AI in the loop: Claude Code and Cursor, shared skills, PRD templates, and AFK + human-in-the-loop patterns.

02 How I work

Applied AI, with the responsibility left where it belongs.

Agents write code. I own it.

Claude Code and Cursor help me plan, implement and review. They make me faster, but I still read the code, question the decisions, and own the result when it ships.

Production over demos.

A demo that looks great for five minutes doesn’t interest me much. I care about systems that run in production and solve a real customer problem.

Close to the product.

I like being in the room from the first product conversation, through implementation, and into production.

Still hands-on.

I still spend my days shaping architecture, reviewing pull requests, working through product decisions, and helping a team ship.

03 Work

Four SaaS products, built and shipped.

  1. 2025 — Now

    CTO at Deadline Funnel

Architecture, infrastructure and the bar for what ships: performance budgets, on-call, review standards.

  2. 2024 — 2025

Full Stack Engineer at Deadline Funnel

Product features across Next.js, React, Node.js and Laravel for a revenue-generating marketing SaaS.

  3. 2023 — 2024

    Full Stack Developer at Voma.ai

Owned the frontend architecture (Next.js, React Query, Tailwind) with Laravel, Go and Node.js services behind it.

  4. 2019 — 2023

    Lead Developer at Deadline Funnel

Led the full-stack team and defined the system architecture. Mentored developers and set coding standards.

  5. 2018

    Full Stack Developer at SurveyFunnel.io

A survey tool for marketers and course creators that segments leads by their answers and syncs them to their CRM.

  6. 2016 — 2019

Full Stack Developer at Deadline Funnel

Built and maintained core SaaS features across frontend and backend.

  7. 2013 — 2016

Full Stack Developer at AW Pro Tools

Laravel, jQuery and Bootstrap. Where I learned to keep production systems alive.

04 Writing

Recent writing.

  1. One-piece flow for AI coding agents

A lean manufacturing experiment with 10 envelopes, the tracer bullets idea from The Pragmatic Programmer, and the prompt I use to apply both to coding agents.

  2. Why learn to code when AI can write it?

Generated code becomes your code when you ship it. Why reading and judging code matters more now that coding agents write so much of it.
